Web portal for Polish fans of the Bayer 04 Leverkusen football team.

My role involved researching topics, assigning them to writers, and preparing content myself.

Challenge

The challenge was to regularly publish quality content that would distinguish us from other fan sites and to expand our reader base and fan page following on Facebook.

Solution

The approach involved preparing a network of German-language portals for sourcing article topics and developing a strategy similar to topical authority. We achieved this by regularly publishing news, pre-match analyses, interviews, and feature articles.

Results

  • Our regular updates really paid off, building a solid base of readers. Before I came on board, each article was getting about 30 views. the time I wrapped up, we were seeing between 50 to 100 readers per article.
  • When I started, our Facebook page had 500 followers. Thanks to our focused content strategy, we managed to double that to 1,000 by the time I moved on – without relying on paid ads.
